Our Library and Archive team are putting on a Show and Share that will present a curated selection of publications and archival materials relating to the themes of fashion and art. Join us to explore fashion and its relationship to art as well as daily life, history and politics. Highlights will include Laura Knight’s drawings, Barbara Hepworth’s designs, and Surrealist photographs.

Summer Painting Workshop with Halima Akhtar

Join artist Halima Akhtar to explore the gestural and painterly brush marks that bring many of the artworks seen in the gallery to life.
Using drawing tools and brushes made from found natural materials, you’ll create your own summertime scene inspired by works from the permanent collection and exhibitions. Looking at artists such as John Singer Sargent, Barbara Bodichon, and many more you will explore how to create rich and expressive layers of texture through experimentation with different mark making techniques.
Fashion Collage Workshop with Beth Fraser
Location: Clore Studio, Main Floor

Drop in to experiment with fashion collage inspired by artworks in the Sargent and Fashion exhibition. Artist Beth Fraser will guide you to create unique artworks using her distinctive cut-out techniques. Beth's work is a testament to how fashion illustration and abstract art can blend, creating unique and bold results.

Jazz and Gin

Stop by Room 8 to enjoy live jazz with the Matthew Hill Quartet while you sip on a drink from Sipsmith's pop-up gin bar.
The Matthew Hill Quartet is formed of some of the UK’s finest young jazz musicians who originally met whilst studying at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. With a relaxed and smooth approach, Matthew’s trumpet playing is strongly influenced by the sound of West Coast jazz greats such as Chet Baker and Stan Getz. The band also draws upon the sounds of Latin jazz. Performing original compositions and reworkings of jazz standards the quartet is making a name for itself on the London jazz scene and further afield.
